Pacific Rim's big influences were Ultraman, Godzila, Gundam, and super robot anime like Mazinger Z. Del Toro loves that stuff. It's funny you bring up the Gundam in Ready Player One. In the book he turns into Ultraman. That whole three minute time limit thing the guy had was actually a left over vestige from that. At the time the movie was being made, Ultraman's international rights were caught up in a legal battle, so there was no way he could get them.

Let me give you a bit of history about the origins of the Ultraman The Ultras' home world is called the Land of Light from the Nebula M78 which is three million light-years away from Earth. Their world is a clear green crystal-like planet that is 60 times bigger than Earth, with advanced technology surpassing Earth's civilization, and the Ultra race were originally human. The power of that light was so powerful that covered the entire planet, and with that said power it transformed the entire people into the silver Giants of Light. I just found your channel yesterday, but I just watched 2 of your videos today, and it seems you guys have already reacted for Kamen Rider and Super; although they are the same as Tokusatsu they have some differences. So most Kamen Riders are people with hidden powers, right? In Ultraman's case, there is what is called Human Host and Human Form. Human Host is a human who merges with Ultraman while Human Form is Ultraman's disguise in human form, but specifically for Ultraman Nexus, the Human Host is called Deunamist (not Human Host). So if Kamen Rider is some kind of armor Ultraman is a sentient being, alien (except Ultraman Gaia and Agul, they are embodiments of Earth and Sea so they are not aliens because they come from Earth). Ultraman can blend with others just like Kamen Rider Zio, Geiz and the green one (I forgot the name). Ultraman has different origins, many of whose origins are still a mystery like Ultraman X (some theories say Ultraman X was created by a Visitor in a different timeline, in the original timeline the Visitor nation is a race that created clones of Ultraman Noa, the strongest god in the Ultraman franchise, but his clone named Ultinoid Zagi went berserk because he didn't accept that he was just a replacement so he destroyed the planet Visitor, the Visitors go to Earth for a stopover and in exchange they impart their knowledge, allowing humanity to create state-of-the-art technology as seen in the Ultraman Nexus Series) In Kamen Rider there is Ohma-Zio who is the demon king and the strongest Rider, in Ultraman we have Ultraman Noa, Ultraman Legend, Ultraman King and Ultraman Saga, the four of them are called God Of Ultra. Their signature attack (a beam coming out of the hand) is called Kousen, but not all Ultramen have this move, most have movement modifications and of course their Kousen has a different name; Zero's Kousen is called Zero Wide Shoot, Storium Kousen is for Ultraman Taro and so on.
The studio house that produces Ultraman is named Tsuburaya Production which was founded by Eiji Tsuburaya in the 19s, initially Eiji worked for Toho, aka the production house that produced Godzilla. so the idea and costume for Godzilla (Showa version) was created by Eiji Tsuburaya, he was also responsible for Special Effects at that time, then Eiji built his own company called Tsuburaya, but he still worked for Toho simultaneously, that's why some of the kaiju in the Ultra Series are similar to Godzilla
Tsuburaya has also collaborated with Toei Company, the production house for Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, they created an event where Ultraman (the first) meets Kamen Rider Ichigo

I think you're referring to another Japanese tokusatsu character called Zone Fighter teaming up with Godzilla for his show, not Ultraman, if I'm not mistaken.

Ultraman are Alien, they were originally similar humanoids to us but they evolved into giant humanoid aliens by after creating the Beta Spark after the sun died. The only Ultraman that are suits are the the ones from the Netflix Anime, which is an animated adaptation of the manga ULTRAMAN (which is called Suit Universe, as they uses suits). Also the "Ultraman with a beard" isn't the Ultraman from any original season, his name is Ultraman King and he is among Noa and others as the oldest Ultraman to exist (although Noa is a deity, Legend is also something similar) and he is also one of the strongest, being capable to capture Ultraman Belial (the black and red Ultraman), an Ultra that wanted power and tried to gain it through the Beta Spark, but was refused, damaged and exiled as punishment, only for a Alien Rayblood to lure him and combine with it and become into the most atrocious Ultraman.
The Ultraman race's power and energy are weakened outside of their own galaxy so much that it might kill them if they use it for more than 3 minutes, so in almost every Ultraman series or movie, they will find a courageous and good-hearted human to build a bond with, that will allow them to fight multiple times within 3 minutes mark after they are sent to protect Earth from Kaijus. Usually, that person's heroic act involves protecting others from a Kaiju leading to their death, which gives Ultraman the best chance to build a bond with that person. After forming this bond that person will be resurrected and will be given a transformer with power from the land of light so that the protagonist can transform to Ultraman at any time of need to fight a Kaiju, with a limit of three minutes before Ultraman's power is exhausted. The protagonist usually joins the local Kaiju or earth-defending team and transforms when Kaiju gets out of the team's control or when the team is all down. The protagonist usually makes an excuse like aiding a teammate or going alone to fight the kaiju at a better angle. Before transforming into Ultraman. The protagonist will usually keep his secret identity until the last battle or until every other member of the team finds out about it. This usually is when Ultraman has his last life to fight on Earth before leaving Earth for a long period of time to heal and recover before they lose the ability to turn into Ultaman ever again. On Earth, they don't have enough energy to appear on earth more than 3 minutes each time. But on their own planet and in the universes is much easier for them to maintain themselves as Ultraman.

Let me give you a bit of history about the origins of the Ultraman
The Ultras' home world is called the Land of Light from the Nebula M78 which is three million light-years away from Earth. Often their planet is also called the Ultra Star. Their world is a clear green crystal-like planet that is 60 times bigger than Earth, with advanced technology surpassing Earth's civilization, and the Ultra race were originally human. When their sun died, their planet became a cold and dark barren wasteland until the planet's team of great minds came together, using their advanced science and technology, to create an artificial sun called the Plasma Spark to illuminate their home planet once again.
The power of that light was so powerful that covered the entire planet, and with that said power it transformed the entire people into the silver Giants of Light. However, that light also traveled beyond their planet and its radiating energy disrupts the natural flow of evolution, creating the monsters/kaiju and super-powered aliens they were fighting.
With their newfound powers and a strong sense of justice, the people of the Land of Light have devoted themselves to using their powers to protect worlds and galaxies against evil across the stars, and eventually they are now named as Ultramen by humans and other species.
And its not just the Land of Light. Other Ultras were born as ancient giants from ancient Earth and are awakened to protect the present Earth, like Tiga, Gaia and Agul. Some Ultras are also born outside of the Land of Light, either coming from a sister planet or a different universe, like Leo, Jonias, Cosmos, Nexus, Ginga, Orb.

I just found your channel yesterday, but I just watched 2 of your videos today, and it seems you guys have already reacted for Kamen Rider and Super; although they are the same as Tokusatsu they have some differences. So most Kamen Riders are people with hidden powers, right? In Ultraman's case, there is what is called Human Host and Human Form. Human Host is a human who merges with Ultraman while Human Form is Ultraman's disguise in human form, but specifically for Ultraman Nexus, the Human Host is called Deunamist (not Human Host). So if Kamen Rider is some kind of armor Ultraman is a sentient being, alien (except Ultraman Gaia and Agul, they are embodiments of Earth and Sea so they are not aliens because they come from Earth). Ultraman can blend with others just like Kamen Rider Zio, Geiz and the green one (I forgot the name). Ultraman has different origins, many of whose origins are still a mystery like Ultraman X (some theories say Ultraman X was created by a Visitor in a different timeline, in the original timeline the Visitor nation is a race that created clones of Ultraman Noa, the strongest god in the Ultraman franchise, but his clone named Ultinoid Zagi went berserk because he didn't accept that he was just a replacement so he destroyed the planet Visitor, the Visitors go to Earth for a stopover and in exchange they impart their knowledge, allowing humanity to create state-of-the-art technology as seen in the Ultraman Nexus Series) In Kamen Rider there is Ohma-Zio who is the demon king and the strongest Rider, in Ultraman we have Ultraman Noa, Ultraman Legend, Ultraman King and Ultraman Saga, the four of them are called God Of Ultra. Their signature attack (a beam coming out of the hand) is called Kousen, but not all Ultramen have this move, most have movement modifications and of course their Kousen has a different name; Zero's Kousen is called Zero Wide Shoot, Storium Kousen is for Ultraman Taro and so on.

The studio house that produces Ultraman is named Tsuburaya Production which was founded by Eiji Tsuburaya in the 19s, initially Eiji worked for Toho, aka the production house that produced Godzilla. so the idea and costume for Godzilla (Showa version) was created by Eiji Tsuburaya, he was also responsible for Special Effects at that time, then Eiji built his own company called Tsuburaya, but he still worked for Toho simultaneously, that's why some of the kaiju in the Ultra Series are similar to Godzilla
Tsuburaya has also collaborated with Toei Company, the production house for Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, they created an event where Ultraman (the first) meets Kamen Rider Ichigo

I think you're referring to another Japanese tokusatsu character called Zone Fighter teaming up with Godzilla for his show, not Ultraman, if I'm not mistaken.
I think you are thinking of the movie Godzilla vs. Megalon. Godzilla takes with a robot named Jet Jaguar, who had an uncanny similarity to Ultraman.

Ultraman are Alien, they were originally similar humanoids to us but they evolved into giant humanoid aliens by after creating the Beta Spark after the sun died. The only Ultraman that are suits are the the ones from the Netflix Anime, which is an animated adaptation of the manga ULTRAMAN (which is called Suit Universe, as they uses suits).
Also the "Ultraman with a beard" isn't the Ultraman from any original season, his name is Ultraman King and he is among Noa and others as the oldest Ultraman to exist (although Noa is a deity, Legend is also something similar) and he is also one of the strongest, being capable to capture Ultraman Belial (the black and red Ultraman), an Ultra that wanted power and tried to gain it through the Beta Spark, but was refused, damaged and exiled as punishment, only for a Alien Rayblood to lure him and combine with it and become into the most atrocious Ultraman.
My suggestion, next should be Kamen Rider henshin/transformation.

The Ultraman race's power and energy are weakened outside of their own galaxy so much that it might kill them if they use it for more than 3 minutes, so in almost every Ultraman series or movie, they will find a courageous and good-hearted human to build a bond with, that will allow them to fight multiple times within 3 minutes mark after they are sent to protect Earth from Kaijus. Usually, that person's heroic act involves protecting others from a Kaiju leading to their death, which gives Ultraman the best chance to build a bond with that person. After forming this bond that person will be resurrected and will be given a transformer with power from the land of light so that the protagonist can transform to Ultraman at any time of need to fight a Kaiju, with a limit of three minutes before Ultraman's power is exhausted. The protagonist usually joins the local Kaiju or earth-defending team and transforms when Kaiju gets out of the team's control or when the team is all down. The protagonist usually makes an excuse like aiding a teammate or going alone to fight the kaiju at a better angle. Before transforming into Ultraman. The protagonist will usually keep his secret identity until the last battle or until every other member of the team finds out about it. This usually is when Ultraman has his last life to fight on Earth before leaving Earth for a long period of time to heal and recover before they lose the ability to turn into Ultaman ever again. On Earth, they don't have enough energy to appear on earth more than 3 minutes each time. But on their own planet and in the universes is much easier for them to maintain themselves as Ultraman.
